hey guys, i read on different forums that our trigger wheels are junk and should be replaced with a billet one. First, do you agree? if so who makes a good one? thanks

I have never heard or experienced anyone who has had the crank trigger wheel fail. Do you mean crank dampener by chance?

Seems a littles weird to me. The crank wheel is nothing more than a stamped wheel with teeth all around it with one tooth missing and that is how the crank sensor knows where the crank is in its rotation.

modular mustang. also read it in several books. It does mention it on the MHS sight at the bottom of the adjustable crank gear article.

Lmao fasle information, but these cars do have issues with muffler bearings.

lol, muffler bearings, never gets old. the only thing i've found that mensions anything about crank trigger wheels is that the older cast versions may be prone to cracking. if you already have the stamped wheel, there's no problem. i cant load the MHS page to find it, because my damn hotel internet aint workin.
edit: got it to load, here's what MHS says "The cast thick trigger wheel as used by Ford up to 1999 is junk IMHO, just get a stamped one."

if your in the middle of doing a cam swap or something where your in that area of the motor, then yea, it might be beneficial to swap out the crank trigger wheel for a stamped steel one, but if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Im guessing that statement is referring to stangs from 99 and earlier. And yes im asking this question because im in the middle of a cam swap

yep. if you have the thicker one you can replace it, MHS has them. bit expensive if you ask me though, 35$ for a peice of stamped steel.

apparently it was "Stock on all 2001 and newer modulars." (MHS quote again) so if you have the thick one, and you dont feel like replacing it, i'd say you'd be fine. if it aint broke there's nothing to fix, unless you feel like dishin out the cash for one or trying to find one used. if you've used it this far without it braking, i'd say your good to go.
