Default DG Custom Side Window Louvers install question

Got a set of DGC side window louvers for my 2011. They came with double sided tape already attached but I have read in a few posts that recommended using other heavy-duty 3M tape.

Should I just use the tape it came with? If not, how do I remove the tape and install new tape? Can I just put it over the installed tape? Or put new tape in other areas to reinforce?

Wondering how many people have had problems with the tape that comes packaged with louvers - or is it an infrequent issue?

Thanks for any help or advise. This is my first mod!

Isn't this a duplicate post of the one in the main forum? Bad boy...

Wink

You got me Nuke - no excuse.

I did get more responses in the main forum though...

Yes - my bad.

Thank you for all your help though as I hope to do it this weekend (weather/errands permitting..) and have read a few posts about problems with louvers not sticking. I agree with you that prep is the most important part so I want to make sure I do it right.

I installed DG Customs on my 2011 GT also. I used the tape that came with the it and it worked great. Just don't forget to put the adhesive on there too. Mine was buried in all the styrofoam peanuts and I almost threw it out before I knew it was there.

I installed mine using the included tape after cleaning the windows with 99% isopropyl alcohol and then applying the included adhesive promotion stuff as per the instructions. Mine have stayed on with no problems even in bad weather and at speed.

99 percent!!!

Did you do this before usinng the little tube that came wih it? I guess that is the adhesion promoter. My only. Thought/question is that in my experience adhesion promoter was not use on installing directly to glass.

Thanks for the help.
