Differences between AODE and 4R70W...

Default Differences between AODE and 4R70W...

I know in 1996 ford changed the automatic transmissions in mustangs from AODE to the 4R70W..but im curious as to what the differences between the two are..can anyone provide some insight?

Well the AODE is for 302/351 pushrod motors, so the bellhousing and input shaft/converter are the first things to come to mind. Im pretty sure the internals are very similar however

Does the 4r70w have the crappy two peice input shaft like the aod
