Was just on that thread too. I changed mine to amsoil at 500 miles. The dipstick was between the two holes and I was 1/2 qt short of filling one of the gallon containers. So lost about 1/2 qt the first 500 miles. Heard that this is common during breakin and then stops. Will keep an eye on it just to make sure and to let you guys know if it burns any more.

i heard the same thing about them burning oil. My '11 has 2800 miles on it, and 1600 of those came for 2 road trips. I've checked the oil in it twice and can't tell that it has burnt any.

I haven't burnt much at all, last I checked my fill of amsoil (about 3000 miles old now) it hadn't notably changed so I didn't top off.

Mine had burned a quart at about 3000 miles. Haven't checked it since. I'm at about 4300 miles now. I'll check it tomorrow (assuming my TBI-addled brain can remember) and report back.

With 4403 miles on the odo, the car hasn't burned a drop of oil. Not a single one. It's right on the dipstick where I filled it up to last time. So it does seem that though the engines burn anywhere from .5-1 quart of oil on break-in, they don't burn any more after that. At least, they shouldn't...

I did, however, find another teaspoon of oil in my JLT catch can. That's another teaspoon of oil that isn't in the intake now. Hooray! That's about 3 or 4 teaspoons now.

Default JLT's FYI

JLT's on passenger and driver side after 2000 miles show, Passenger with 1/2 Oz of oil; Driver side was Zip.

I'm the OP from the other thread.
Customer care called today to open a case. Hopefully they have good answers.

Time will tell.

I put an oil separator on this past weekend. By the end of my commute today I would say a couple of teaspoons of oil were collected. I also put delete plates on and cleaned out my intake. It was nasty, and that was with only 22k miles on it. I was surprised how much oil makes it into the intake.
