P-51 Paint Job

P-51 Paint Job
Since I got my Mustang I have been kicking around the idea of tying in the P-51 Mustang with my car.
I've been messing around in photoshop and came up with this.
What do you guys think?
I won't be doing anything for awhile, but its nice to get some feed back and ideas about what kind of paint job would go well with the theme.
And yeah I know Roush has the P-51 edition, but I'm not too crazy about it.

Depends. For a daily driver I say no.
For a show car I say YES DEFINITELY!
It just wouldn't be my thing for a daily. But it sure would get a lot of attention!
Depends on I guess how you want a daily driver to look really.

Opinions as follows:
1) The shade of green on the front fender looks too milky/white based for a military theme
2) The red stripe coming off the hood and down the door looks far too busy with the insignia on the door as well
3) The font for the "P-51" on the rear quarter looks too thin. A military style stencil font would fit the theme better.
4) All the best looking P-51 warbirds are silver, not green anyway imho
I'd suggest taking another look at photos of the Roush P-51A and P-51B models. They pulled off this concept, without going too far over the top.

I second this paint scheme! The greens separated by the red stripe looks, well, kinda off... But a silver, red, black scheme would look good if done right!

I'd do them kinda tilted as well, so it doesn't look like a race car number.
But yeah, silver and black for the overall scheme.

This is why I love this forum.
The silver theme sounds great, because the olive green is a little too much. I love the idea of the stripes too. And with the font I am def going to change it because I want it to match the numbers on a planes tail section.
Or Maybe a silver and red theme like the planes above? I love red and would like to keep a little red on my car.
