96 Mustang ignition wont turn
Wondering if anyone has ever faced this. Out of nowhere, my ignition will not turn with the key in it. Wont even budge. I have tried making sure steering wheel isnt locking it, tried different keys... etc.
Looking for ways to get passed this so I can get the car home.
Thanks....

You can try squirting a bit of WD-40, CRC-556, or the like in there and then rocking the key back and forth--one or more of the pin tumblers may be stuck and the light oil might free it up.
But if any tumblers are broken you'll need a pro to get the lock assembly apart. By the book you have to turn the lock cylinder to RUN and push the cylinder release to get it out--locksmiths have tools that can break the tumblers and get the lock cylinder out.
This ruins the cylinder but they will likely have a replacement with them if you tell them you have a '96 Mustang when you call...

This has happened a couple times to me randomly and every time i lock the steering wheel. For me all you have to do is really muscle it around, a few times i had to start hitting it to get it to turn. I have a 2004 so it could be a completely different story and if thats the case you risk braking your key and having the shaft of it stuck in the ignition...
