Default '86 5.0 Driver Seat Removal?

Just picked up a beautiful 1986 5.0 yesterday. Unfortunately for me, the previous owner replaced the front seats after the original ones were torn up and said the driver's seat can't slide forward or backwards. This guy was well over 6' tall and i'm only 15 and around 5'7" so reaching the clutch is practically impossible for me. So I want to loosen the seat from its rails and slide it forward manually until it's comfortable for me.

Keep in mind, I only have a simple basic knowledge of doing this kind of stuff from working on my dad's old cars, and not recently. But he's shipped off to afghanistan right now and my mom isn't much help with this so i'm kind of on my own here. Sorry if this sounds dumb, I just don't want to do something wrong.

Could anyone here walk me through this? Ie. "First loosen the bolts holding the rails to the car"... etc.

Thanks in advance!

As beautiful as mine? im not 100% sure on the 86 seats as I have yet to take mine out, but there should be 4 bolts, one at each corner. As for it not sliding, most seats have a cross wire to release the opposing sides latch and that wire may have came loose and needs reattached. Like I said im not 100% sure so someone can step in if im wrong, but hopefully this helps.

should be two 5/8" nuts in the front, and two 5/8" bolts in the back. Slide the seat as far forward as you can to reveal the rear bolts (on the floor) and then as far back as you can to reveal the front nuts. then pick the seat up and remove it from the car. There may be some wires attached to it.

Removing seats isn't witchcraft, and doesn't require much technical knowledge aside from knowing the difference between front and rear... and right from left.

Okay I got the seat off, easily enough haha... but the real problem now is trying to manually slide the seat forward. I looked all around the bottom of the seat and only saw one bolt on each side that looked like it would loosen the seat from its rails but there was no way I could get it loose. Do you guys know what I should be looking for exactly?

Okay here are a few pics of the bottom of the seat. Mostly focusing on the rails it's sitting on.. and some lovely soda stains that i need to clean up.

I tried loosening the big bolt on the black metal piece seen in the second picture cause it seemed like that held it on the rail but it wouldn't budge at all. Again all i want to do is move that black piece up the rail toward the rear of the seat.
Any suggestions?
(sorry for the bother)

you cannot manually move those seats. Atleast not easily. It is likely that the cables that run from the electic motors, to the seat tracks themselves, are bad. Perhaps even damaged on the motor end.

My suggestion: Go to a junkyard and grab a passenger side seat bracket out of a 79-04 mustang. Remove the four black bolts that can be seen in the aluminum rails. Take the power bracket off your seats and install the manual bracket. Then re-install the seat in the car.

Well power seats that have no power. Everything can be moved by hand except what i'm trying to fix.

Anyways, thanks guys. I'll see what I can do.
