well had to change the rear high pressure hose again, last one lasted 3 years. question is about the bracket that the hoses go though. the high pressure and return hoses go though this rubber centered bracket but on mine there is also a L bracket that has a hole in it thats hex and will fit over the bigger fitting on the rear hose. ive always wondered how it went. i know theres a reason it will slip over the end but exactly how does it go.

Should be routed like this. Decent quality hoses, properly routed, should last more like 30 years, not 3.

thats how mines routed. and agree, it should last a lot longer than a few years. theres nothing like OEM parts.

by the way, great picture. like the detail. well now i have a slight whine from the pump going slow. air is out and its topped off. thinking the pump might be messed up after driving it loosing fluid. im thinking about giving lucas power steering additive a try. i already ordered a replacement pump from checker, there guaranteed for life, but this one doesnt leak. and after having two in a row that did, well i figured if the noise will go away with lucas then its worth keeping.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to eat the core charge and keep both.

BTW, I'm surprised no one complained the photo was the wrong year, wrong engine, compared to the OP. Routing is right, though.

there going to get another one in for me monday or tuesday, im going to go ahead and swap them out again. figured if i was going to have to jack it up to drain some of the fluid to be able to put in the lucas then i will just go ahead and drain it all and change the pump. id say if this next pump housing leaks id go with autozone but they might get there pumps from the same re-builder. dont know what year you mustang is but the engine compartment looks pretty much like mine. i just wanted to make sure i had the high and low pressure hoses on the right side in the mount, and i do.
