Default What's A Good Price For A 5.0?

I'm about to start a 5.0 swap in my 92 2.3. I haven't had much luck of finding a decent donor car in my area, however I have found a complete 5.0 on craigslist for $1400 (what hes asking anyway)

Complete 5.0L H.O V8 Engine pulled from a teriffic running 1993 Mustang LX 5.0L that was totaled in a side collision.
92k miles, superb condition, no leaks or issues, clean & ready to go!

Includes:
All accessories, (AC compressor, alternator, water pump, wiring, starter, etc.)
Full wiring harnesses
Computer (EEC-IV, C3W, F3ZF-12A650-FA)
Full air intake system w/sensors
Flywheel
Bellhousing
Motor Mounts
Misc. fuel line
Engine stand

What you guys think? I believe its a little high but maybe its just me...If he had the rear end and transmission for this price Id do it in a heartbeat. 92k is pretty low for a 18 yo car...everything looks really clean from the pics I saw. What you guys think I should offer?

That is high. you can get a whole car on craigslist in this area for that price. Should be able to find a motor for around $500.

I got him down to $1100 just because it would take me $300 in gas down there and back just to get it since im a state up lol. I offered him $800 for it and waiting on a reply. If he had the trans and rear end then I would of given him 1400 no problem but thats a little high for just a motor and some wires...

Also you have to expect the worst when buying a motor...he can say he "ran great" all he wants but why did he pull the motor then? The only good part of that deal is that motor is newer and it comes with all the extra stuff...keep looking you will find a 5.0 way cheaper than what that dudes asking...I see people selling 347 short locks for the price he wants...be patient you will find one for a good deal

For $1600 you could do this...
block

rotating assy
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-1-94165/

Go to a junkyard and pull a engine. way cheaper that $1400.

Agreed 100%. Considering it comes with a stand and computer and harness, $800 is ok. If he doesn't take it, let him stew for a week. Meanwhile, be patient and look for better deals.

Assuming he knew what to pull out of the car. He may have only pulled half of the required wiring and sensors. I wouldn't buy that, instead I would do what they have said and look for another car. I bought my car (91 LX with GT spoiler and tinted windows, full leather interior, power windows, power locks, power seats, power everything and it all works. And the engine and drivetrain was unmolested) for $2500. I talked the guy down from $4500 because it needed the clutch replaced and he was moving to California and wanted it gone. It had 120k miles.
