Whats broken? The material or the hardware?

You can buy a new top (material) for about $150.00, but install is another story.

^+1, what is broken, or at least what does it not do that it is supposed to?

$500 to $2500+ depending on what is broken and whether or not you will be paying someone else to do the repairs--which brings up another point, if you are not able to do your own repairs buying as 11 year old Mustang (especially a convertible) could be pretty much the same as buying a hole in the ground into which you dump, money...

Is it just the top material that needs replacing? Here in San Diego it runs $620 for a new top installed. From what I have heard other parts of the country are higher in price.
