Default s197 Transmission Cooler?

So I've read a good amount of info about people putting trans coolers on their sn95 and older mustangs but have not heard really of anyone doing this to an s197. Do the auto s197's come with one???? My trans gets hot (can feel it in the center console) after longer drives. rougher downshifts too. Car has 4.10's and Bama 93 race. AM offers a cooler but just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks!

The auto S197s do not come with them from the factory. They would be a good idea if you're running the car rough or racing it but day to day around town driving, they're not really necessary.

Uh, to put it bluntly, you're full of crap.
Auto cars come with a very nice front-mounted trans cooler, located between the a/c condenser and radiator. A secondary cooler can be added for autocross, but for street driving, the one is quite sufficient.

I thought they did, but I havent heard much about it and as you can see theres mixed opinions.

So I wonder why my trans starts getting hot on longer trips, say more than 100 miles. Center where the shifter is is noticeably alot warmer and the 2 to 1 downshift clunks

There are parts that are constantly moving in the trans. Rub your hands together quickly for an hour... Same thing

Heel-toe practice, maybe? I do it all the time...

However, I wouldn't be cruising around in 1st.

After traveling on the highway. When I slow down and the auto drops into 1. Like at a light.

So I feel no one really knows and no one has any recommendations. Has this happened to anyone?

I guess I'll have to check myself when I take it out of storage next week. I just haven't found any info on line and two people here say two totally diff things
