here is a link to pictures of what we are making, they are the mt-82 transmission shift fork pads. the reason we made these are beacuse when we rebuild these transmissions every time the plastic factory piece is broken and to get a replacement we have to buy the whole fork assembly.
hopfully this will not only be a replacement but also an upgrade.

since i couldnt find anyone who makes them i decidded to make them my self.
as of now i have the pictures of them before we send them to get the surface finished.

I would assume that the plastic would need to remain as the contact surface to prevent excessive wear on the contact surface. While brass is easily machinable and stronger than the plastic wouldn't the particles have a negative effect on the life of the transmission? Or are you going to be breaking the transmissions often enough that this is not the concern?

What about retaining the plastic, assuming a HDPE material with a metal backer plate? If a mechanical connection is not available a chemical one could be made to withstand the forces this takes. They glue brake pads on to metal plates, should be able to do this without issue.

the plastic pieces break very fast, today i uploaded pictures of it in the transmission.

also later today i will be opening up the transmission after 1500 miles of driving, the shifts feel more solid with these, maybe because i was used to driving it with the broken plastic piece, but i didnt make these for "feel". but because they would survive longer than the plastic piece.

also when the plastic piece breaks you will use more force to shift gears, and the factory shift forks bend fast.

also are you suggesting glueing the pads to the collar? or gluing a plastic piece over the brass?

Gluing or fastening a plastic face onto the brass. It appeared that there was enough room to use a set screw or a rivet to accomplish this.
If you want to have your transmission oil analyzed that would set any concerns aside of induced particle wear from the brass pads, but you would have of had a control sample prior to installation. Also did you upgrade the forks?
