Exclamation Wire problems

I just bought a 96 mustang with a v-6. I was looking under the hood and noticed that the headlight bulb plug has been burnt and the plug for the electric fan looks burnt too. does anyone know if i can buy the wiring for just the two burnt ones or if I have to puchase a compleat wiring harness. Where would I buy this.

You should be able to buy a pigtail. Then you'd have a new plug that you would splice on. You can fill in any gaps with wire and butt connectors. Might try Summit or someplace like that. If not probably a Ford dealer.

You can buy just the pig tail for the headlight at most auto parts stores. I've done a few over the years.

The fan is actually something Ford addressed later when a LOT of them melted. The easiest way to fix that is cut it off, and crimp 3 female connections to the clean wire, then attach them to the fan motor and wrap is so water doesn't get in there. Just did my '98 about a month ago after a sort in that plug fried my fan motor.

If the burning isnt bad you can clean it up and use liquid tape to seal everything up again. Though this will not take care of the burning problem and liquid tape is not heat resistant. This is really only a temp fix to buy you time.

I think this is the problem I'm having. I thought it was the CCRM, however, when I replaced the CCRM the cooling fan was still out so I made a jumper wire to hot-wire it directly to the battery to see that the fan motor still works and the fuse is good too so I'm about 99.9% sure it's the pig-tail.

The only issue is that while the plug is pretty worn, it doesn't look like anything is melted and also since there are only 2 wires going into the pig-tail, but 3 pins on the connector, how would I wire this?

I bought 10g and 16g wire with the intent of setting up a hot-wire switch, however, since the relay is not accessible I'm guessing this'll be the easiest fix. Is there a how-to article for this?

Also is there a thread w/ common issues for the 94-98 3.8V6 models? So far in the 6 weeks I've had this car I've blown a head-gasket and dealt with a broken odometer gear, now this. Anything else I should be worried about? On the plus side, the fuel-pump was replaced prior to buying this car and I got it for $1800, but I'd prefer driving it over working on it

So yesterday I hear this noise coming from under my hood and viola... my fan was working. I'm still concerned that the plug is messed up and that I need to replace the pig-tail.

How do you wire it considering there are 2 wires and 3 pins on the 98 V6 model?
