Angry 2006 mustang v6 coolant leak, NOT water pump

So, I've got a 2006 mustang v6 that is leaking coolant from somewhere along the bottom passenger side. It's not the water pump (I just finished replacing that). It's also not the thermostat housing (no water coming from around there).

Is it possible that the timing chain cover sprunk a leak? When it runs, it's a very rapid dripping, and when off, it drips more slowly for a while, eventually mostly stopping.

No water in the oil that I've noticed so far.

Let me know what your thoughts are... THANK!!!

Here's a picture from below...

Here's a smaller version of the picture. Anyone know where the freeze plugs are on a 2006 Mustang v6 engine? Maybe one of those?

It's most likely a cracked upper or lower thermostat housing. They are made out of hard plastic and this is very common in the 05' & 06' V6 models. Also, the Ford Escape has the same issue. Mine has a slow leak as well. Next on my list to get fixed!

+1 I'd check the thermostat housing.

That sucks and I've never really heard of that on these motors, but hey at least you know what it is now.

Turned out it was the thermostat housing... so hard to see the water leaking up there... but when we jacked it up, the water ran out from the back as well as the sides, so figured it couldn't be the head gasket.

Those thermostat housings are a bad idea...

We had a hint when the Ford dealer said that their technician with 30+ years experience has never seen a head gasket leak from the front on these engines.

So, it cost $100 to fix instead of many $100s

Thanks all

Good to hear!!
The dealer fixed it for $100 or did you fix it yourself?
