Has anyone left the top starter bolt out of their car, or would it cause any problems? Mine is in the car now and I replaced my clutch over a month ago and it was a pain to get back in. I’m now going to replace my motor mounts and heard that you need to remove the starter. The top bolt took forever to get out and put back in and that’s the only part of the install I’m dreading so do you really need that bolt in there? Thank you.

It's not bad if you go through the motor mount with a foot or so of extensions....it worked for me anyway.

I use a 24 inch extension with a swivel type socket, this will have the ratchet in front of the motor where you have plenty of room to do what you need to do. But as said earlier dont leave it out.

I only have two starter bolts in mine, one of the lower threads on the trans is stripped out. Been fine for years.

I have gotten so good that I can get it out in about 5 minutes, but I still leave the SOB out.

I can get to it easily with a tubular K member, but before that I just left it out for years, no problems.

it is a pain no doubt, i too used the 90feet of extensions from the front of the motor. worked
