I just had some 255/50R17's mounted on my stock wheels- so much better than the 225/55R17's the previous owner had on there!

However, they have 32 psi on them and it almost seems a little low. They ride so nice it almost feels like there's not enough air pressure in them. Do I need to run more with these?

Assuming they are 44psi rated tires, 32psi is fine. You could put a few more in it if you like however. Experiment

I run 35 psi and it feels a lot better than when I had them at 32.

Like baddog671 said you can just add 1 psi, drive it for a little while and see if you like it better. I wouldn't go any higher than 35psi tho

Even if he leaves them at 32psi, they are probably ~35psi while he's driving. Expansion...

Just keep it in the 30-40 range wherever makes you happy. It's not gonna break anything.

I'll try to get some pics, I don't have a phone with data so I can't just upload pics on a whim unfortunately Will have to break out the ol' digital camera and get some maybe Thursday.

Also, these are the NT555's. They seem nice so far but I've got a little shake in the front end-when they balanced then I asked them to just put the weights on the inside of the wheel and maybe they didn't quite balance. They do ride better than the 225/55R17 Sumitomo Srixons that were on there, and they have a hell of a lot more traction too.

Just to add a couple of things . . .

Nitto's Invo in 255/50-17 is a Load Index 100, Standard Load tire. The OE 235/55-17 Pirellis were Load Index 98, Standard Load tire. So you could actually run that Invo size about 2 psi less than the OE Pirellis while still maintaining the same load capacity. Handling might change a little, though.


You may want to experiment with a little tire pressure stagger for improved cornering feel and maybe better ride at the same time. Something like 33 up front to sharpen the response and 30 out back to soften how the rear rides going over bumps.
