Default Tuner?

So, as I have been reading around it seems that tuners are highly recommended.

I have an 07 GT.

Should I get a tuner and what are the reasons for getting one.

Also, what tuner should I get?

SCT is really one of the standard tuning DEVICES used around here, although others use Diablo. The biggest decision and power provider is the quality of the custom tune. You can get a custom tune for running with or without a CAI. I am personally running the Steeda Ulimate Induction pack. I am using Steeda's 93 octane tune and could not be happier with my set up. Again I stress it is the QUALITY of the custom tune. If you get an SCT device it will come with a "canned" SCT tune. You are far better off buying an SCT device from someone who writes the tunes. About the same amount of money but way better in the area of performance.

I would get a SCT and a Brenspeed tune. Best decision I have ever made letting them tune my car.

Just bought the SCT X3 from Brenspeed. Talked to the Man Himself. The customer service is good, I know that much.

Eagerly awaiting next Tuesday.

Default intune

I have the diablosport intune for my 07 and absolutely love it! it can hold as many tunes as your heart desires and you can change your parameters on the fly plus the data logging comes in handy! you can also check and clear engine fault codes on as many vehicles as you like even if its married to your car

A custom tune (software) along with a tuner (hardware, mainly for storage of custom and your stock tunes) will add performance and improve driveability. If you so desire, you can have an economy tune written but then we'd all laugh at you as you struggle to get out of the way of soccer mom's.

A CAI & tune combo is typically what most folks get since the tune and CAI work very well together; the tune providing about 80% of the combo's gain.

Even with an 87 octane custom tune, you'll notice a major increase in power and the aforementioned improved driveability. There is usually no impact on fuel mileage other than the expected minor drop from "getting on it" more often because.... well... these things are performance cars and it gives us wood.

I do have a CAI already, and for all I know it may even have a custom tune. I did purchase the car used.

I am looking into the SCT IOS tuner because I like the features of it. Though some of what I heave heard about it make me a little weary. Scary things like it wiping the computer.
