So I climbed under the car when I noticed some oil spots by the back of the car, sure enough rear diff leaking. Did a 3.73 swap and went with the Drake Rear Diff cover, right now it is just wasting Royal Purple onto the ground.

Get it up in the air and every bolt tight, but the fluid is seeping up from the top of the cover. Funny thing I read the reviews for the cover, and 2 years ago this was an issue but all current reviews not one mention of a leak. So I trusted it and bought it. Now I had to buy a whole new cover, FRPP this time, and have to swap it out. Not fun.

Decided to post this here as a warning to those who may consider a drake cover. if you consider it YMMV.

Did you use a gasket or RTV?
Run a good bead of Black RTV and you should have no leaking.

Get the reusable gasket and you should have no problems. Was it leaking at the gasket? I've had the frpp cover on with a reusable gasket for years.

Was leaking out from the top of the Diff cover. I do a lot of miles on the HWY to work 36 miles each way, so as fluid expands under a lot of hwy conditions I assume it boiled (for lack of a better word) and leaked through the top.

All bolts were tight, gasket had no tears, blaming the diff cover on fitting.

Order a FRPP cover and will have shop use RTV. AM gave me the Return paperwork on the drake cover, also took some bucks off for having to replace the 2 quarts of RP fluid that will be wasted.

after eading multiple reviews about the reusable gasket,, based on the product and link provided by moose, and Scott's seconding of the product I have opted to go this route for the replacement.

My pinion seal was leaking from the get go. Replaced and no more leak. Good luck.

I have a Drake cover and have had in on and off twice, sealed with RTV both times and no leaks whatsover. I'm not a fan of those reuseable gaskets.

Check your rear end vent for plugging.
High internal pressures will cause a leak...

I used the RTV method.
I put the cover on loose contacting the
RTV and waited 3 hours before tightening
the bolts as per Fords instructions.
No leaks here.

If diff gaskets did not leak, Ford would be using them.
