what would yall recommend to change in a car to be able to drift and i wont have problems real quick with a stock 89 mustang?

The stock 5.0 just don't have the power there needed to induce a controlled drift. Sure can get it to break the tires loose , but to induce a controlled drift you need some power to be able to feather the accelerator, also a bit stiffer suspension helps to keep the car from grabbing in the rear so much. The mustangs are notorious for snap over steer because the rear suspension will grab unexpectedly during a slide and since your already turning into the skid that moment the rear grabs it sends the car abruptly in the other direction. Remember drifting is the art of keeping the car just on the edge of loosing control and maintain control at the same time. You need power along with a balanced suspension and a lot of practice.

There is also amount of turning angle and not a strong suite of the Mustang. Generally speaking and most of which mentioned by dawson:

Very stiff rear and soft front suspension.
Rid the car of the 4-link suspension out back
LOTS of power
LOTS of tires
LOTS of practice

Don't know a whole lot more, but research will get you far.
