Angry Front Shocks not aligning

I'm in the middle of replacing my entire front suspension on 64 Coupe. When installing the shock, I find that it doesn't align properly from upper control arm to upper shock mount. Do I have to use spacers in order to align the shock square???

Thanks

i assume his spring perch needs to be slightly rotated...stick a pry bar in there and get it right..then bolt the bottom of the stock in remove the wire holding the shock in and let it expand then bolt in the top

Thanks. I will try adjusting the perch again, but seems that it is as far as it will go. Photo attached. Gap on one side of shock is the width of my finger, other side is flush with perch.

Thanks for your help guys!

Has this car ever been in any kind of front-end collision? Maybe some structural misalignment if so?

I usually snug the bottom bolts on the perch first, then muscle the upper into aligning with the mounting holes.

That's common, once the shock is removed the way the spring sits on the perch combined with the position of the arm causes the perch to tilt to one side. Especially on a new install where things haven't settled into a normal ride height position yet.
