Default MGW install help

Hey everybody, got the MGW installed and changed my tranny fluid while i was at it. Everything went pretty well.

Have 3 questions for you guys though...
1) i didnt touch the shift stops, just installed the shifter, thats okay right? didnt really want to mess with adjusting the stops....

2) that rubber grommet MGW sends you to go on the rubber dust boot was not sent to me and i didnt use it but everything seems to line up and fit snug/fine. is this okay as well?

3) lastly, i cant screw my shift ball and jam nut on because the stock boot is too scrunched up and wont go down any further. i still have threads that are not exposed (under the boot) but cant get to them. does anybody have this problem? i imagine a new shift boot would solve my problem.

Thanks everybody for the help

As long as you have a tr3650 transmission the shift stops are internal. If you have an earlier sn95 you'll (T45) need the shift stops.

They usually come with instructions on how to set them. It's pretty simple, just turning the bolt in or out by so much. Make sure to put some lock tight on it. I think Americanmuscle has a write up about installing and setting the stops. This forum might have it.

One goes In the front of the shift lever and the other ones goes behind it. The purpose is to stop the lever from going too far and damaging your transmission. I'd assume especially useful in aggressive shifting situations. From that write up, you put the car in each gear and then adjust the stops to where there's not much more travel left in the shifter once it's seated in the gear.
