I figure most cars with a turbo would have a disadvantage on the road course because of turbo lag. I'd go supercharger without a doubt.

It's all about Power to weight ratio and handling dynamics on a road coarse. A Stock mustang suffers from severe oversteer (tail wagging) and on a road coarse that will kill you. A stock Mazda 3 handles pretty nicely out of the box.
Your car would kill a MS3 on a road course. Can you say "understeer?"

too bad they race in different classes in the Pirelli World Challenge

2012 TC class was won by a Mazda3 5 door. Driven by a friend of mine. The GTS class where the Stang competes top Mustang was 5th.

If you were spot on with your shifts and he kept up like that, he had top be fully bolted with a really good tune, and possibly corn/meth as well.

It takes a fully bolted speed3 to keep pace, maybe slightly edge out a stock 5.0. He must have had the driver mod for sure to keep pace at such a low speed dealing with wheel spin.

A lot has changed in the tuning world for the Speed3's, and there are many holding 350-400whp on stock motors just fine. It's the tiny k04 that keeps most of them around 300whp.

Good run OP, it's usually a run like that, that will get the credit card out in a hurry for some go fast parts, lol.

Credit card is in hand waiting to see what ford has up their sleeves next year. I normally don't buy first year cars, usually wait for the 3rd year. But I would like to own a 50th anniversary. If its a flop, I will put between 8-12 grand in this car and see what I can do.
