Default Front Brake Upgrade

Hi All -

Looking for some suggestions on a reasonably priced front brake upgrade. I have '11 GT with the NON Brembo front brakes. This car has woefully inadequate brakes (IMHO). This is my 4th Mustang, so this isn't really surprising, especially coming from an Acura TL Type-S that had Brembo front brakes.

Currently the one that catches my eye is:

The kit you linked to is probably the most reasonably priced brake upgade you can get. It works great. I did eventually get some lighter rotors though.

You should make sure your wheels will clear the calipers first though, otherwise you will have to get some that do.

That is my biggest question, I have GT "Premium" 19" wheel, I would assume it would... Anyone know?

Can you post a pic of a front wheel on the car that shows the caliper? The 19" is fine diameter-wise but the spokes may be the problem

bookmarked.

would this kit work with smaller rotors ? I have 20 wheels but if I put 14" rotors, I won't be able to use my spare tire anymore

The spokes look kind of flat. I don't think they will clear the brembos.

Are there any brake upgrades that will work with those wheels? I have the same ones.

Pretty much any calipers that have pistons on the outboard side will have clearance problems with that kind of wheel.

Maybe just try some Hawk HPS Pads, stainless braided hoses and upgrade the rotors to slotted, etc. if you don't want to (or can't afford to) change wheels.

A small wheel spacer might help the spokes clear the Brembos. No real way to tell without actually trying it.
