This is all GREAT info! I noticed that a couple of the brackets that wrap around the springs are so loose they move around. Could that affect the strength of the springs?
No it won’t effect the strength of the spring. That is a relative constant. It will effect the effectiveness of the spring at absorbing bumps and your overall ride quality. Those brackets you speak of probably used to contain a rubber bushing that has long since disintegrated. Replace the bushings and you should be good again.
