Default Ok, now a strange alternator WIRING issue/ question.....

This is my 92 5.0 hatch. Yesturday, started up fine, drove down the street, parked at gas station to grab a coke, and then car was DEAD. Jumped it, drove it, parked it, dead. Had to jump again. Auto parts store tested and said bat was good, alternator was only charging 52 amps instead of 75. Only the car stereo was on.....

Go out this morning to remove alternator, and after removing belt, I unplug it and find THIS:

The plug in the alternator is melted (?)....Has come apart. I am going to have to replace it. HOW? Where do I find this part? Does anyone sell it? In a salvage yard? And can I cut the wires on the plug and splice in a new plug?

Is this what I need?

yes sir that's what it is. Why not just go ahead and do the 3g conversion and be done with it. A lot better for running stereo and amps , also for hid lamps if you ever plan to upgrade the lighting .

Well, I will eventually, but for now I will stick with original. I got a good estimate on removing the hail and totally repainting my 92 last night. 4500-5,000 bucks to remove all the hail, then repaint it red and add the black sidestripe. So, saving my money for that and also swapping in a 5 speed. Going to have to pay for both, as I am not rich and don't have the shop to do the 5 speed swap.

That plug comes with every reman alternator for these cars, they are bound to sell it by itself, ask at your favorite auto parts store.
