Question What are these 289 heads worth?

I have a spare set of original heads for a 289, and am thinking about selling them here locally. I have no idea what to ask for them. They are the C5-AE model, with a manufacturing date of February 1964 (non-rail rocker type). Any "general" ideas on their value?

Default Correction to previous post

Those 289 heads were made in February 1965...NOT 1964..!!

I have nearly the same heads, along with them being ported and polished with screw in studs and a killer set of springs. I would be happy to get 250 for them

Hmmm...given that these heads are "in the rough", and would need a complete rebuild (new valves, springs, rocker arms, etc.) right now they're probably closer to the "scrap" range of values. I'll hang onto them for a while, in the off chance that maybe somebody down here looking for original replacement heads for a '65 289 might want 'em. Not likely, though, as around here there's just not many folks running 289s anymore!

I would think, considering your geographic location you can get a bit more.

Prior to the aftermarket heads coming on the scene, those heads were the thing to use. Today, however, aftermarket heads can be purchased for about what it would cost to fix up the old heads, and the new head designs will out-perform the old stuff.
They may be worth more in your area, but here in the DFW area they are not bringing much at all.
Best,
Al
