Default Engine light for secondary air incorrect flow

i tried to put a CAI on my 2000 mustang v6, but it didnt fit, so i put everything back together, and the light comes on (stupid me forgot to put a hose back in), so i reset the light

now the light comes on over longer drives (i.e. once a week), could i be that i need to reset the computer? or is there other things that i could have hit that now needs to be replaced (i.e. a sensor)

What a CAI? I spent a good portion of my life troubleshooting problems with cars and trucks, but can't help you no way no how. I have no clue what you are talking about.

Best practice when communicating with others is to explain abbreviations When First Used (WFU)

thanks,
zip.

Not sure of the exact code, but could the "secondary air" thing be the dual runner intake system? I know there have been issues with that thing. There is a black motor/gear assembly at the rear of the engine that drives two rods to two bell cranks at the lower intake manifold. Its way down low, right against the dash panel. You might need a mirror to see what's going on. You might try to GENTLY move one of the cranks to a mid position so see if the system resets. As I understand it , generally the system runs in one mode or the other (fully open or fully closed) Its possible the system is 'stuck' in the wrong setting. That could set a code.

Let us know what you find.

thanks,
zip.
