upper intake paint

Honestly there was not any paint on the intakes when they were new.
Someone obviously has painted it in the past. I painted mine with a high temp metallic. I think the color was engine silver but I cant recall. This is what it looked like before I sold the stock intake off my 94 . Then the next pic after that is the gt 40 someone painted grey , ill be redoing that when I get a chance but I wanna pull the engine and paint every thing.

forget trying to sand it off...go to the home depot or w/e and buy some air craft paint stripper. buy the gallon not the spray can. apply it and cover the intake in saran wrap(keeps it from evaporating fast) let it sit for a few mins then scrape the stubborn stuff off with a w/e you can find paint stick, scraper blade then spray the rest off with water

Yeah mine is the opposite. I want to paint the raised letters like I had done originally. I used vasoline/oil around the casting body and then sprayed the letters. Plan didn't work out so well when that stuff is a pita to get back off cleanly. Looked good after I spent all day on it. Not sure if I wanted to go back through the hassle doing it again lol
