2013 GT Premium Shaker details and my upgrade
Had another post regarding the 2013 Shaker audio. Thought I would share the details on what I did along with the wiring detail.
First the speaker wiring:
Left Front
6X9 door speaker
White/Brown - Ground -
White - Hot +
Sub - 2ohm X 2
Red/Blue - Ground -
Red - Hot +
and
Black/White - Ground -
White - Hot +
Right Front
6X9 door speaker
White/Orange - Ground -
Purple/White - Hot +
Sub - 2ohm X 2
Red/Blue - Ground -
Red - Hot +
and
Black/White - Ground -
White - Hot +
Sorry - I didn't get the colors on the rears as I had them installed

Went the following
Replaced front component speakers and rear deck speakers with Alpine SPR-68 Type R's. On the front I trimmed out the component mounts from the bracket and then mounted the Alpines in place.
Sub Woofers
Kicker 8" Comp RT "8"'s shallow Mounts 2ohm X 2 - Kicker 40CWRT82 - note -these will only work on the 2013 and 2014's you will need the Kicker 40CWRT81 (1ohmX2) for earlier models.
You will need some mesh grills (8" with mesh) to cover the speakers - I got mine from Concord Car Stereo 94520
You will need to do some trimming for the woofers to fit in the doors. I also trimmed out the speaker trim rings till the inside was smooth, then used sound material to fill. Lastly went to ACE hardware and got some heavy duty outdoor Velcro and heavy duty double sided tape to mount the rings. It worked great.
Got it all together and it is a big improvement - no more booming and no more muddy sounds. One note - I started with Helix 5X7's - the highs were too much with the shaker system. The Alpines seem to be just right. Plan to drop the Helix into my 66 coupe rear shelf.
Cost - about $700 and a days worth of work. Looks good and sounds great.
Next step - later this year have the REUS upgrade installed - rear sub with amp post tweeters and some other tricks they do to create a great sound stage.
Threw in a few shots of the 13 GT and 66 Coupe including a shot of the 66 while at East Bay Muscle Cars in Brentwood.

The I pre-fit spinning the rings around till they sat evenly. Marked top of dead center on the out side with some blue painters tape for reference.
Then used a single layer of dynomat to build it up slightly on the inside of the rings. Used heavy duty velcro and some heavy duty double sided tape (3M red) to attach the rings to the outer edge the speaker grills. They are about 1/2 wide so I cut the velcro and tape to fit along the edges. Snapped them in place. This worked great and they are easy to remove if needed.
The grills should be available from any audio shop.

An update : been trying different settings and discovered a few things.
1. Do not use any fiber stuffing in the enclosure area of the subs. I did this. Seems like the response was good but not great. Removed the fiber stuffing today and the speaker response is much deeper.
2. Been messing with the setting on the I-phone and seems like "loudness" is optimal. Very good bass response and highs are much clearer
3. Has anyone installed the Kicker amp upgrade for the 2013 system? Saw reference to the upgrade which ups the power on a youtube video filmed at SEMA 2012 . The "ladies" custom Mustang.
I'm thinking the just might be the final touch. The video says it is plug and play and covered by Ford.
Last question - has anyone done anything to up the power to the rear pair of speakers?
