Default Drivers window regulator problem

Hi, I have a 66 fastback. I took the drivers side window scissors assy, and regulator out, cleaned and lubricated them, replaced the bushings and clips with new, and reassembled.

Now, when I roll down the window, when it gets about half way down, the scissors bind with the rod that goes from the inside handle to the door latch, springing the latch and opening the door. I thought I put it together the same way I took it apart, but something has changed.

Any ideas as to why the rod is binding with the scissors?

Thanks.

It's not put back together correctly.

...not really as smart-alecky as I sound.
maybe take the passenger side door panel off and have a look in there to see if you can figure out what went wrong.

How did you get the window and regulator mechanism out? I am having a similar problem and after removing the screws that hold the regulator in place cannot see how to get it out.

Thanks,
Matt

The regulator is attached to the scissors mechanism by a pin with a clip. You need to remove the clip and the bolts that hold the scissors (3). then you can remove everything through the hole in the door. See this link on youtube.

Be careful to note the position of the rod that connects the inner door handle to the latch. I had this in the wrong position and the door wouldn't latch when the window is down.

Good luck!

You must have bent the rod between the handle and the latch. I just put my windows in last week and I know there should be clearance between the rod and the scissor. Did you remove the inner latch release and rod when doing this?
