Default lower 0-60 times

2013 Automatic 3.15s vmp 91 tune.

So far my best 0-60 with my 91 vmp tune is 4.6 seconds. Thats during hot weather, have not tried any cold runs yet, on my stock 19inch perrellis.

I noticed that Im still in 2nd way past 60 mph. What rear gear would I need to make a 2nd to 3rd gear change at say 62-63mph, my vmp tune shifts at 7500-7600rpm.

Or would launching with a 3500 stall put me in the 2nd to 3rd shift around 60 mph ? Ill be installing a circle d converter 3c with a 3500 stall spring 2014.

I have a little tire spin off the line, and a hard chirp into 2nd.

Other then really good tires, any ideas for helping me lower my 0-60 time ?
(cold weather and practice don't really count as well they are obvious)

Are you using the TrackApps to test this 0-60?
Cause I know the TA is off on the 1/4 by 0.2-0.3 slower than track slips not sure on the 0-60 if it's off or not.

LCA's and/or UCA should help a bit lower the 0-60 to prevent less spin, as for gearing I am not sure on the auto's but for my 6spd /w 19" my 3.55 gears force me to shift into 3rd just prior to the 60mph mark or i bounce off the limiter.

Default 3.55s

3.55s sound like a good all around gear, when switching to 4.10s 5.0 mustang magazine lost 20hp! Would switching to 3.55 result in a loss ?

3.15s still seem the way to go with the automatic, as the best times ive seen are with 3.31 and well thats pretty close to 3.15.

Ill be adding on my accufab 84.5mm throttlebody and kn typhoon intake at the same time in about a week.

The KN claims to add 20 hp and 20ftlbs of torque, and the throttle body has an increase of 14ft lbs at peak and a horsepower increase of about 10 in the midrange. Maybe a tenth from these in my 0-60.

I am using the track aps for my 0-60.

majority of aftermarket parts claim "up to XX hp" and they usually base those numbers on in combination with other aftermarket parts or tune, however because you are tuned you would maybe gain those numbers.

I probably wouldn't go any higher then 3.31 in an auto unless your planning on forking out cash for a good set of tires or you plan on turning your car into a pure drag car.

as for TrackApps I don't know how accurate they are I have done quite a few 1/4 runs and it says my all time best 0-60 is 2.3 which is impossible with my mods lol

best idea of your 0-60 is run your car down the strip and use your time slips, fair amount of calculators out their can base your 0-60. A guy on the corvette forums made
an excel sheet you input your time slip numbers and it determines your 0-60.

Any gear change over 3.31's will require a shift into 4th killing your times. You want to lower your 60'? Put in a Circle D converter. That throttle body and intake is not going to do squat for you.

Default scott

In my OP I stated spring 2014 circle d 3c being installed and flashed to 3500 stall as per recommendations by Chris.

SO.. based on that im still trying to lower the 0-60.

I have seen some really fast times with 4.10s and the circle d converter. Seems like you would need the best slicks to pull off the traction needed though and I want to run street tires on the street and radials on the track.

If im running the 3.15s and I launch at 3500 rpm, what mph would my 2nd to 3rd shift be at ?, and like wise with the 3.31s.

The only car that has put up a good time slip with 4.10's and a converter was Larry and he wasn't even driving the car. It was done on a closed track with negative 1500 DA. The car hasn't been able to get back into the 10's since that one lone run. My point is if you try to go that route you'll never have close the success he did. 4.10's+4.17 1st gear in the transmission is very very difficult to hook unless the conditions are perfect.

The proper way to launch the car is off idle. You don't want to flash the converter to 3500 rpm. Also I don't think a switch to 3.31's would be that much of a benefit. Here's a car with stock 3.15's and a converter. Pretty impressive run in not so great conditions.

Default converter in daily driving

How is the converter in daily driving traffic ? That is a great run, the converter seems awesome on the track, its numbers are similar to a supercharged setup.

That's a great run for a car with minimal mods and it has the 3C. A 3c or a 4C converter are perfectly fine for daily driving. It's when you get to the 5C that may not be for everyone.

Default 3.55s

With 3.55s and the Boss Intake I think I still might be in 3rd at the end of the quartermile ?

I used the american muscle chart and add 666 rpm for each 10mph beyond
and wound up with 7659 rpm at 115mph.

Also traction would still be possible with a good wide tire.

Any thoughts ?
