Should I be mad at this trolley jack?

Should I be mad at this trolley jack?
I bought a cheap trolley jack from Sears at the start of the year probably got 8 lifts out of it. I went to use it today to lift up my car high enough to get a stand under it and nope. I pumped it up, it slowly slipped down. Pumped it back up, nearly high enough to slip the stand in place, slipped back down.
Should I even bother taking this to Sears and try to get it replaced when I feel like the same model will mess up on me again?
Obviously, I should pay more for a decent floor jack, but what would you recommend for around $100. I'm not using it all the time, perhaps once every so often for routine maintenance.
Cheers

Stupid question, but you have the release valve tight on it, right?
I have been using a Torin Black Jack for about fifteen years now, I bought it for $15? at Walmart. It has been steadfast and has been used a couple hundred times with no issues.
