Default Rearend Swap, Will it work??

I have found an 8.8 out of a 88 thunderbird super coupe. I was told it was a 4 bold patter axels. If i pull the axels and breaks from my 95, will they work in the rearend from the thunder bird. Are the axles the same length and have the same splines?

Super or turbo coupe? As far as I remember all SUPER coupes were IRS. Would require a ton of fab work to mount and no your stang rear parts will not work. If its a turbo coupe I think your basic concept should work.

But why go through the trouble to make a t-bird rear fit. 94+ rears aren't that difficult to find.

You would be much better off locating a new edge (99-04) rear, less wear and tear and direct bolt in. No swapping axels around either.

Well im not 100% sure im going to get it. I have been reading on another forum about the thunderbird being 3/4" wider because of the brakes so you have to use a caliper offset braket, but i think im more confused about it all then i was when i started.

Around here there are tons of older rears and the 99-04 rears are rare and expensive. Im just looking for something to rebuild the right way and then swap out the rears. Its my daily driver so i have to do the swap quickly.

Look for a 94-98 rear then, or just gather all the parts to rebuild your own and drop it all off at the shop at one time to rebuild it.

It will fit and give the exact same effect of wheel spacers without the spacers. The control arm angles are all the same. When you buy control arms they are even listed as 94-04. I believe a fox 8.8 will bolt in physically but you will have issues with disk to drum as well as its not as wide as the 94-98 rear and will need spacers to get stock width.

the housing is the same. the auto tbird cars come factory with 3.73s and the manual cars 3.55s just unbolt the brake and slip the axles out and swap over your SN95 parts just like a tbird the sn95 is a fox body

So then I should be able to just swap pinions and the carriers. When i do this would it be wise to keep the pinion races together with the bearings. Also will i need to reshim the pinion or should what it has be good. Lastly can you buy just a new crush sleeve.
