New Mustang Owner
I picked up a 2002 GT last week, very excited to be a new mustang owner and just wondering what kinds of maintenance I should do right away if any to ensure the car is where it should be. (oil change, spark plugs etc) The car has 111k miles

Seeing as you probably don't know the service history of the car I would say change it all. Plugs I went with (NGK V power like 2 bucks each) Brake fluid, Coolant, Rear diff fluid ( i=I used 75w 140 synthetic with no friction modifier, I also did the fluid in my manual trans. I used penzoil synchromesh, but have heard mobil 1 is better if your getting notchy shifts. Hope this helps.

If it has an auto trans, flush that fluid. Just draining the pan on that trans only gets a little of the fluid, you have to do a flush to fully replace it.
This is something you can do in your driveway, search on flush 4r70w transmission and you will hit notes on how to do this.

If it has an auto trans, flush that fluid. Just draining the pan on that trans only gets a little of the fluid, you have to do a flush to fully replace it.

For anyone looking to do a full flush on a 4r70w transmission, here's notes on how to do that:

I'll add 2 things, see his added note at the bottom, pump the pan empty before you take it off, it makes it a much less messy job.
Also if your car is earlier than 2002 (and some early 2002 ones) you will have a drain plug in your torque converter. After pumping the pan empty, take the rubber plug out of the bottom of the converter cover and use a wrench on the crankshaft bolt to turn it clockwise until the converter drain plug is right over the hole in the cover and drain it.
Its no big deal if you don't have this drain plug, it just means you need to pump more clean fluid through to get the flush done. I don't have a plug and put 14 quarts of new fluid through mine to get it really flushed out well. Amazon.com has pretty good deals on ATF 6 packs, my local auto stores wanted twice as much.
