Hey all, so i have been trying to do some research and have learned that the T56 is good up to about 600 ft lbs. one question i have is about how much hp can the trans hold? i am going to be replacing my trans first to get it ready for a new motor which i plan to have over 700 hps, maybe up to 900. i want to stay with manual even though im sure its recommended to go with auto. i dont want this to just be a track car, its nice to keep it for a weekend driver. can a t56 have the internal parts upgraded to withhold that much hp? i like the idea of the 6 speed. also with whatever trans that is good for this set up what clutch and bell housing is good and strong? i dont want to go cheap as this is my baby and i want the best, even if it means it will take a little longer to get it together. thanks for the input all. im really excited to get this started over the winter.

A built t56 will hold it, can add a quicktime SFI bellhousing and theres a ton of clutches to chose from.

I'll second that. The T56 is a great trans and can take a beating.

Really? Well I saw on Americanmuscle.com a t56 for $2900. So when u say built, do u mean getting a t56 and having the internals beefed up? I noticed that corvette and a trans am has a t56 trans. Are they all the same sized ones? I'm so lost with this I feel. Lol. I just want to make sure if I'm spending thousands that its not gonna break it once I start driving. I'm gonna start calling shops but I wanna make sure I have a feel for this so I don't get screwed. Does jasper transmissions do good work? I'm not sure if that's just a company out here or if they are nationally all known

Thanks for the link. Have you heard of anyone that has a g-force? I did see one other cobra forum where they also said it holds up to around 900 hp but this company doesn't seem to popular like the TKO or t56. When someone says viper spec t56, does that mean its been upgraded to a viper specification?

I have a viper spec t56, it uses the bigger shafts that were in the dodge viper version t56
