Default '13 Mazdaspeed3 12.961@108.15 stock intake/exhaust

Just got back from Test n Tune at Gainesville raceway, I will give the details of the car first,

FD wheels, non-reinforced with Nitto nt555r's 245/50-16 front, 225/50-16 summer tires rear.

A total of 174lbs of weight reduction, close to 40lbs is in the wheel setup, the rest was spare tire assembly, rear seat rest and cushion, and passenger seat. Also switched to a 51r series battery, it weighed 5lbs less than stock battery.

JBR 80d rmm, autotechs, and a custom tune with a splash of e85, but not an e85 tune.

This was on a revised version of the tune that got me a13.2@105 last time out, it's obviously more aggressive.

Best slip of the night was a 12.961@108.15. Two other 12 second slips are, 12.979@107.56, and 12.966@108.02.

Thanks goes to my tuner for the kick *** tune, clearly that, along with the cooler air, and little bit of extra weight removed is what got the 12 sec et, as my 60ft didn't improve at all from my previous track visit. It's just disappointing, because the car could et better, if I could just figure out the launch. I couldn't get any vid, I had to go solo, can't seem to get any of the locals to make the trip. I had the gopro, but the ****in thing took over 5k pix, and no video, wtf.

Still have room for improvement, i'll be back out there in a week or so.

Damn impressive... I couldn't get it done with almost the same numbers (85 in 1/8th, 108.59 1/4 but a 2.17 60ft kept it all from happening. ). Nice driving and times man.

Very nice, that 60ft has to be tearing you up inside as that's the only thing holding back mid 12's. What's your plans for that? I've never raced a fwd so I wouldn't know where to start, tire pressure, full slicks, suspension?

Good luck thou, and awsome times.

The 60ft is hurting me, bad! As much as I want to stick with drag radials I think the only way to get my 60 down with my launch ability will be to go with slicks. I went down to 13psi on the nitto nt555r's, I would either bog slightly and fall out of boost, or I would spin and have to feather out. That was with changing launch rpm by only 100-200rpm.

As an ex FWD guy I can tell you there is more left in the car. Gotta light those tires up and get them nice and hot. What was the tire PSI on the runs? 1.8s shouldn't be out of the question on drag radials. I got a few 1.6s on MT slicks with the neon if your thinking of going that route.

I started with 14psi cold, which would be 16psi after the pass. I went down from there. Last 3 passes were 13psi hot, that's when I started getting wheel hop. It "feels" like the sweet spot for these tires at my power level/setup is 15psi. I just have to find the sweet spot, or go with slicks.

I would do a 2nd gear burnout until it would pull me out of the water box, usually a good 8-10seconds.

That all sounds good. Did you ask around and see how everyone else was doing sixty wise? ****ty track prep isn't out of the question on a T&T night.

Wow man, I didn't expect to come on here and see this. Congrats on the 12s brother! I agree there is mid 12s in her. That car is hauling *** for the mods!

Question, have you tried airing those tires back up? 15 pounds is awful low pressure for a drag radial. DRs don't really work like slicks do. DRs have a street tire side wall/characteristic. Slicks have thin side walls, wrinkle up, etc. You MAY be actually getting less contact (center of tread not making contact) on that low pressure, idk...would love to hear some more opinions. I run my 555Rs at the same psi I run my street tires on and pull 1.6-1.7s on them.
