Default Might be getting a 02 GT... What do you think?

So i just sold my Subaru forester, and am looking for a Mustang GT for under $5500. I went to look at an 02 GT yesterday with a list of mods. I cant find the ad or i would post the pics.

-Aeromotive 1000 fuel pump
-aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
-Aftermarket fuel rails with braided steel lines
-Sumped fuel tank with braided lines from engine to tank.
-subframe conenctors
-tubular k-member
-Centerforce stage 2 clutch kit
-T3650 with tremec upgrade kit and Black nitrated gears
-innovative AFR gauge and wideband
-Sniper tuned for 89 octane
-3.55 gears and corrected speedo
-176k on body, motor and trans rebuild 30k ago.
-fully adjustable short shifter
-Black leather interior in great condition

The engine is a bit questionable, its pretty noisy it sounds loose/rattling when revving, but doesn't sound like a rod bearing or valves, its an odd rattling sound. The car felt great driving, but when sitting still, revving the engine between 1700-3000 rpm the car vibrates and shakes. The owner said it had poly motor mounts and stock transmission mount. When revving the engine, it doesn't move or shake 1 mm under the hood, almost if it has solid mounts.

The car use to have a built 5.4 in it, and put down 450whp. The owner had pictures to prove everything. He said he rebuilt the 4.6 himself before putting it back into the car, and that it was blueprinted.

The transmission in the car shifts GREAT and feels very strong. It took several flat-foot shifts without grinding or anything. The clutch grabs great, the car has 10.5" wide wheels with Nitto tires in the rear, and it easily spun the tires rolling 15mph in 1st gear. Overall the car was nice cruising, was smooth other than the bit of extra noise from the huge fuel pump. The body was almost perfect. The ONLY concern i have is the engine. Just wanted Others opinion. The price of the car is $5000. Thanks!

I would pass just based on the issues you mentioned with the motor. If there is indeed some sort of issue, it will get expensive quick.

Hmm... is this car near Charlotte, NC by chance? I had a friend look at that car for me and he expressed the same concerns. The owner had a 32V Navigator motor in the car at one point planning on going with twins but changed his mind which is why it has the massive fuel system.

I would steer away from that one. Anytime a engine makes a noise should mot def be some kind of warning. Maybe look at a earlier model new edge (99-01).
