Default 1966 Mustang hubcaps

Has anyone drilled out standard 15" caps to install spinners? If so, any tips would be appreciated by this brand new member!

Use the spinner to make a template out of stiff paper to get the holes spotted.
Straight edge and drafting compass would be helpful getting it centered.
Drill a small pilot hole first.

OK...that all makes good sense. My caps have the large hole in the middle for the plastic pony insert. I assume there is sufficient space around the perimeter of this hole to drill and attach the spinner. I have seen caps made specifically for spinners that do not have the large center hole. Thanks.
