As I'm about to hit my 1yr anniversary of having my car, I've decided to get a new midpipe as it currently has the stock catted one.

The previous owner welded some Original 40's on and it sounds good but I want it to sound even better.


I was leaning towards a MAC OR/Prochamber as I've heard X's sound like crap with chambered mufflers, so theres that

My questions are, how much louder is it going to be over the stock midpipe, and are there any better sounding midpipes(don't want to switch out the mufflers)?

You could just go with catted x pipe. it wont be as loud as a o/r pipe. I had o/r x pipe with flowmaster 40s on mine and it sounded awesome, and loud, but i changed mufflers to pypes m80. best thing to do is search youtube.

go with prochamber. wait for a couple months and i will have my prochamber with borla stingers on my mach you can hear!

With your flows you're probably going to want an H-pipe. It is MUCH louder than stock but sounds incredible. My setup is a little different but it sounds MEAN and the power gains are noticeable. Read up on the FUN install. Make sure you have 2 10" extensions and a wobble adapter to reach the passenger side bolts. Also, make sure to buy a new OEM ford gasket for the passenger side. The Driver side uses a ball and socket type connection, metal on metal. I found that you need either a metal reducer that comes with a lot of midpipes or a standard donut type exhaust gasket to get it to seal properly.

After reading up a bit, it looks like the prochamber is the way to go.

I'll be buying it next month, so look forward for a video of it.

I had an H-pipe with 40 series Flowmaster mufflers on my 71 Duster 340 and it was very loud.

I have an X-pipe (no cats) and a Magnaflow system on my Mustang, smooth sound until you put your foot into it and a lot less annoying on the Highway. Don't get me wrong, I love the raspy sound of the 40's but it gets old pretty quick.

Pypes or h pipe. It's not too loud, sounds just right. I have it paired with pypes cat back and violators mufflers.
