Default Got it. '87 T-Top GT

***EDITED - I have turned this thread into a build/restoration thread for anyone interested!*****

I ended up buying the GT I've been talking about.

It needs paint, which I knew. It needs headlights, which I expected, they're pretty yellowed. Otherwise, it's got a rip in the driver's seat, it needs floor mats, it needs one cap for one of the turbine wheels. It needs tires BAD, not sure how I made it home alive! LOL

I already took the louvers off, they aren't my cup o tea.

Other than those big things, it's just a lot of small odds and ends, like one door handle bezel and a missing interior light cover, nothing major.

It runs rough down below about 2K, but after the RPMs get up, it runs like a scalded dog. It's got factory 3.08 gears, and still has the catalytic converters, and like I mentioned in another thread, still has the rubber boot over the distributor! This is a great survivor car. Happy to be back in the fox body game!

A couple quick pics:

Oh yeah, I've got the original window sticker, 2 Mustang sales brochures from 1987, a Ford Factory Accessories brochure from 1987, and the original owners manual and paperwork that looks like it's never been out of the plastic.

It's got both storage bags for the T-Tops, and it even has the rolling hatchback luggage cover! (I've never even seen one of these until today, these are always missing)

Congrats and good find. You don't see stockers much at all nowadays.

Bet you missed the handling and braking compared to your 2010 lol.

Are you gonna share the selling price?

Yeah, I forgot how much you take your life into your own hands in these things! LOL

I paid 3K. I feel good about the deal.

I gotta get tires so it's drivable and so I can get it inspected. Other than that, I'm getting floor mats, one turbine center cap, and headlights, and I'll just drive it for a while before I get nuts with the restoration.

Eventually I'll get it painted. I'm going back with all original, right down to the red tape stripe.

I'd consider that a good deal, you wouldn't believe what rotted crap boxes (mine included) sell for up here in the rust belt. It's worth the money to start with a nice solid one.

Keep the updates coming and good luck. This is the fun part.

Here's a pic of the luggage cover if anyone is curious, and if you're like me, never seen one for these cars!

When I had my '89, I always thought someone had drilled those two holes where it latches, and wondered why the heck they did it.

It never occurred to me that they were supposed to be there. LOL

LOL

Yeah, the first thing my wife said when I opened the door to show her the inside was, "Wow, that's red."
