Ticking from Valve Cover, found 1 rocker slightly loose, any ideas?
I have hearing a ticking from drivers side valve cover. Recently I shimmed the rocker pedestals to get the correct pushrod length etc. Which quieted things down a lot. But still a slight ticking from drivers side. So I took off the valve cover, and everything seems good and tight. Except for 1 intake rocker, is it loose and you can move it side to side and also diagonally. I don't feel much play up and down, but sometimes it does feel like it may have the slightest amt of movement. I have added shims, tried different push rod and rocker, and its still the same way. Any ideas?

shimming pedastals is not for correcting improper push rod length, it is done to account for proper preload.....your issue could be collapsed lifter, bent push rod and or bad rocker....more so a collapsed lifter

Wouldn't that be the same thing for stock pedestal rockers? Since rockers are not adjustable, and proper preload depends on push rod length. Atleast that's the way I interpreted it. I hope its not a lifter issue, since I removed, dissaembled and cleaned out all of the lifters. And I can not push down on the pushrod very easily, its just the play in the rocker arm. But swapping rocker arms and pushrods, really just leaves the lifter as you stated. mjr if the lifter is fine, could it somehow be a valve tip length issue?
