Default Hood pin holes vs. rain

Hey guys, when I wash my car or it rains water goes down through my hood pin holes and onto my headlights (the back of the bulbs). Has anybody thought of a way to fabricate something to combat this and protect the headlights? Thanks for any advice!

It seems like maybe a small piece of fuel hose or something that you slip over the pin might compress against the back of the hood and help seal it up.

I've been running an SVO style hood with the opening right in front of the distributor, such that it gets wet in every rain storm. I've not had a single problem...in over 10 years and 150,000 miles, in Ohio.

Are you missing the round foam gasket for the bulb assembly? No water should be getting in at that socket area. The bulbs themselves have o-rings to seal that also.

No I am not missing anything, I'm just being cautious. I am certainly seeing that rain will go on the back half of the manifold due to my 3" hole of the cowl hood (so far no problems), and on the bulbs too thanks to the hood pins. I would think it would be better not to have to rely on the o-rings and such if I don't have too. I can't see how water getting on the bulbs can be good.

hood pins or not, water will get behind the headlight fixtures when driving in the rain. That's why the bulbs are sealed with an o-ring and a foam seal .
