Default Autometer water temp gauge install

Got myself one of those, digital version.

Do i tap into the same wire that is used by the temp sender on the intake? So i cut that wire, connect a second one for the second gauge i guess!
Thanks.

I would not use the stock sending unit for this, the auto meter gauge should have been provided with a sender. If you want to keep your stock gauge in working order , then get a thermostat housing with a tapped hole for a sending unit similar to this

Im not a big fan of having 2 gauges reading off the same sending unit .

I took my stock sender out and used that hole. Also if you want to keep that gauge working you can remove the upper intake and look on the lower towards the left rear and youll see a pipe plug. Take that out and it goes into a water jacket. There is also one on the right side but the EGR coolant line plugs into that one. You can remove that setup if your EGR is deleted.
