Default AM CAI Kit

I just received AM's cold air induction kit for my '94 GT. It didn't include any installation or care instructions. I found the installation instructions on the website, but what about maintaining the filter? What oil should I use and how do I apply it? Does it need to be oiled when installed?

Also, the two round studs that hold the fender bracket to the frame rail are different. One is drilled and tapped on the large end and the other on the small end. Is this correct? I don't what to get halfway through the installation and find out something's wrong.

I hoping someone who has installed this kit can help me out.

Thanks.

The filter comes pre-oiled so you do not have to oil it. As far as care and maintenance, you can use any brand reusable cotton air filter cleaning/oiling kit, like the K&N Recharge Kit.

I am not exactly sure what you are describing as far as the bracket goes. Can you post a picture so I can see what you are talking about?

Thanks,

Nick

The kit includes two posts that attach to the bracket that holds the intake in the fenderwell opening. The posts fit into the same grommets on the frame rail that held the original intake system. It seems they should both be drilled and tapped on the large end.

I'll post a photo as soon as I figure out how.

Thanks.

Nick,
Are these parts correct or not? I'm planning to install the CAI this weekend but don't want to get halfway through the job and then find out one of the parts is wrong.

Thanks.

Odd, I swore I replied to this last week. We had to check on our inventory, it looks like the kit you received is defective. Those posts are all drilled on the same side on the ones we have instock. Just give us a call and we can get it replaced for you.

Thanks,

Nick

I was getting ready to try it anyway on Saturday when I took a close look at the rest of the parts. Turns out I had several problems. The flange the MAF meter attaches to was bent and the rubber connectors between the pipes were undersized. I spoke to one of the customer service guys and he gave me an RMA to send the whole thing back. I hope the replacement is in better shape than this one was.

Thanks.

Replacement should be fine. We looked at a good cross selection of what we had in stock here to make sure it wasn't a recurrent problem.
