Question Wheel fit question

I will have a 2012 GT with Brembo & 3.73 this Friday. I’m shopping around for a winter wheel to put some Michelin X-ice Xi2 235/45R18 tires on. Would the below GT500 wheels fit my car with the Brembo brakes? I’ve had mixed responses from other members so I thought I would go straight to the source. Thanks

Thanks for the inquiry!

That's a great purchase you just made, although I would not personally drive it in winter, that is certainly up to you!

If you wanted to use those wheels, you would be just fine! They are the same specifications as the OEM GT500s and will clear Brembo calipers, no problem!

Excellent, unfortunately I have no choice. I'm looking into a beater but since I have to take two kids to daycare it needs to be a safe beater. Not much out there for 2k.

Yea, I hear ya on that!

I ran across a VERY nice 1993 Legacy turbo sedan, with a bad wheel bearing/axle for that price, but in the 1 day it was posted and I went to see it in person, it had sold.

I would suggest looking at older(pre-1998ish) subaru legacies or imprezas. They are AWD(most of them) and basically bullet-proof. That and all subarus basically share the same parts, so maintenance is cheap and as far as safety goes, there isn't much out there that will perform better in a crash! Be weary, though, it will be like going from a formula one car, to a peddle-kart. The naturally aspirated ones are sloooooooooooooow.

One last question. What are the weights of the 19x8.5?

The 19X8.5s will come in at around 26-27lbs without tire

So basically same as stock Brembo tires. Trying to decide if to use the AM or stock wheels for winter.

I personally do not use my stock wheels in winter. I bought some beater wheels and put snow tires on them to get around with in the heavily-salted Mid-Atlantic region winters..

It's a lot easier to justify buying new wheels, to keep your originals clean in case you ever wanted to sell the car, rather than swapping tires over every fall-spring only to possibly damage the wheels that originally came with the car.

It's up to you, though!
