NEW PICS - Fully Dipped 08 GT - let me know what you think
#11
I vinyl wrap and plasti-dip cars, as a hobby. When done correctly, a plasti-dipped cars finish should last 3 to 5 years before needing touch ups. When I say correctly, I mean prepping the surface and proper coverage. I could be wrong, but it sounds like the OP only used one gallon, which would explain needing touch ups after only 6 months. A car takes 3 gallons, or 5 coats, for proper coverage and good bonding, provided the surface was prepped well.....verts take a little less for obvious reasons. You can get a full pro kit with 3 gallons of plasti dip, sprayer, masking tape, and various other items, for around $350. Personally, I think it's an awesome alternative to paint because of the savings, longevity, ease of touch ups, and ability to peel it off if/when you get sick of the color. Not to mention, it protects the cars original paint and clearcoat underneath.
