Default Trying to find my old car!

Hey everyone I'm trying to find my mustang I had back in high school. It was a red 1998 mustang gt 5 speed. I have the vin number. I was living in the Phoenix area at the time going to UTI when I got rid of it and I moved back to Missouri.
Has anyone ever done this before and lead me in the right direction of who to call or talk to to try and find out who owns it now. Any help would be great thanks!

Call AZ DMV. Give them the VIN and they will give you information on where the car is currently located. Not sure they will provide current owner info, but that is a start. If the car has been scrapped or taken to a junk yard you will not get any info. They only have info if it is currently registered. Good luck!

I was wondering the same thing. A 71 Cougar X-XR-7. Was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base, TX. You think they could do the same thing. The car was registered in KY when I sold it. Don't know if the guy registered it in TX or his home state and I have no idea where was from.

Yep, all you need is the vin. That year cougar has a very unique VIN, the only reason I know is because my first car was a 73 X-R7. Have been looking for years to find that car, but I am afraid it has been scrapped.

Good luck!

You could contact your insurance broker, they should be able to pull your driving record and what car was registered at what time. Since you have the vin, you'll be saving them that step. They should be able to do a search on the vin and see if the vehicle is registered, titled or if the title has been turned in for salvage.

I actually located my first new car I bought in 1989 after having parted with it in 1992 on the other side of the country. It's a long story and I'll save it for another time, but it's possible. Keep looking, and good luck!
