i think he will be fine just installing the head unit. i believe in 2000 you couldnt just change the head unit. you would have to change the whole system for it to work. im not completley possitive but i think you should be ok. just do a little more research by contacting ford before you buy anything. let us know how every thing works out.

CD was an adder on the '96's. Mach 460 or not. Not sure about the other year models.

you dont actally need to bypass amps, just wire in the remote off the amp to the remote on your car. and my 95 came tape deck also

just buy a mach 460 head unit, i went through weeks of torture tryin to install subs, when i finally realized all i needed was one dumb part. by stock radio, if u want subs you dont need an aftermarket one.

and k8ieGT, are u tryin to play burnt cds? i find it real hard to play certain discs, my mix cds wont play in my deck unless they are TYC brand, and i think PNY Technologies makes blank cds that Mach 460 head unit likes. but mine does that too, it clicks and spits burnt cds out, not of those brands. i also get problems when its real cold inside the car, the disc wont play right away. but i think im better off waitng for a minute than re-wireing all the stock speakers, or gettin new ones.

I am new but I have done some searching and sdiscovered a website that sells some type of converter for about 60 bucks. You can add an amp or add a new head unit. Its a cool site. Very helpful http://www.mustangaudiosystems.com/M...udio_page2.htm

I would stay away from those 10" sub encosures they are selling though...they are too small for the 10" (the 10" will fit but there isn't enough air in the box for the speaker to really perform.
