Default P.I.E. Adapter for Mach 460?

I have a 2004 GT with Mach 460 Audio and 6-CD changer. P.I.E says that there is an adapter available which I can use to connect my Ipod using the Aux port. However, I am not sure whether my stereo has a 16pin or 20pin or 24pin configuration at the back.
Depending on the pin configuration, I would need to go with either the PIE FRD03-AUX/S or the PIE FRDN-AUX/S adapter.
Does anyone know which pin configuration does this stereo have?

i think it is the 16 pins but if there is no cd changer controls on that radio it will not control the ipod
only aux input to send audio into the radio from any external source here is a lkto the ford aux interfaces from pie

is your 6 cd changer buil in to the radio ? or external if external you can unplug it and plug the ipod

The CD- Changer is built into the radio so i think i should be fine with that adapter

IF the cd changer is built in to the radio there is no software to control a cd changer outside the radio or ipod
you can only input the audio from the ipod using the FRD04-AUX

Stateactive, have you found an adapter that works with the Ipod video in order to wire it to the Mach 460 head unit? I have an '02 so we have the same Mach 460. Thanks.

I took my stereo out yesterday to confirm that it has 16 pin connector and it does ... i ordered the PIE FRD03-AUX/S adapter yesterday ....2-day shipping...waiting for it to arrive..hopefully it does over the next 2-days.. if it does, i'll be installing it over the weekend....so will be able to let you know then how it works..but from all my research, it seems that this adapter should work...will keep you posted. If you want confirmation if the stereo is the same, i can send pics of the stereo since it is sitting on my comp. desk

do you know what a standard for speaker hrns looks like(black 8 pin rectangular)? Look on the inside, passenger side of the consol. There are normally a couple of hrns's that are connected, one should be that black 8 pin hrns. You can test to see if it is it by turning the radio on, and disconnecting the hrns and the sound should turn off. I have not been in an '04 to do a stereo yet and wondered if they still did this.

IT WORKS!!!!
Just got done installing the PIE FRD03-AUX/S adapter on the 2004 GT with Mach 460 Audio system and it works great.... and thanks to the "wonderful" interiors on the mustang, there is a large hole on the side below the glove compartment through which the adapter can slide out ...so in case you want to plug something other than the ipod, you can do that too...
