I have a 2007 GT with Shaker 500. I would like to upgrade the H/U as well as the door speakers (all of them). I agree that there is little need for the rear speakers so I am only concerned with the fronts. I was wondering if it would be possible to make a nice sounding system installed for $1,500 to $2,000?? If so, give me some ideas. I don't need navigation or a DVD player screen. Just looking for a AM / FM / CD / MP 3 with built in satellite radio (would like a built in tunner so as to not need a seperate box).

OK....have at it!

All you want is:

Headunit, and comp set + amp?

Are you going to install?

There is definitely no need to spend 1,500 on all that, unless you want anincredibly super sweet h.u.

Budget issue just arose so I need to go in stages.

For now I would like to install a H/U with satellite radio. I was thinking the Clarion 775USB.

Are the non-subwoofer door/rear speakers run by external amp or the Shaker 500 H/U? If by the Shaker H/U I would probably just use the H/U power of the Clarion for now to run the non-subs.

I want to gather and collaborate all of our info and basically wrap this all up and have a mod repost it. Anyone else agree?

I agree except about how a line driver is normally useless. That would be true except it is a great way to help integrate into the mach system.......

Well I did gather everything and repost almost all of it organized in my sticky. I have a few things I should be adding here in the next few days, so if you have anything you want me to add, PM me with it.

as far as quality brands and speakers go, Infinity Kappas (thier hi-end) are by far the best sounding speakers i have had in my car (but i have no experiance with their lower lines).

On an '08 Mustang, does the "standard" radio (not a Shaker 500 or 1000 - just Mustang GT Deluxe base model stuff) have pre-amp outputs? I don't like doing speaker-level i/o with amps - only RCA cables.

My upgrade path is going to be 1) speakers, 2) amp (if possible), and 3) head unit if at all. I'd like to keep the stock head unit if it ends up sounding ok with just speaker & amp upgrades.
